Our GFLG is a incorporated , insured and
FULLY SELF FUNDED BODY .

Following are some of our various fund raising activities , which can be used as examples for other groups , as we believe more Landcare Groups should take the funding of their group into their own hands.

Fund raising actions:

October Long weekend 2005:

We would like to thank all our participating members and supporting campers which helped with the fundraising during the October Long weekend . We collected $ 236 .

Due to this success we are planing to make this an annual event.

"Convoy for kids" 2005 and 2006:

The " Convoy for kids" day was a new event for us, and we joined Wollondilly River Stations stand and helped with the camp oven cooking demos at the day. The donations collected for freshly cooked damper samples, short bread cookies and billy teas went to the convoy for kids fundraising. We also sold 100 raffle tickets on their behalf. It was a great day and we will be participating anually now.

The next " Convoy for kids" day is on the 15-October 2006 at the Olympic Park Stadium. Raffle tickets at $ 1 each are available at Wollondilly River Station. All proceeds help purchase equipment for Westmead Childrens Hospital and Telstra Childflight.

October Long weekend fundraising 2006:

On the 29-9 till the 2-10- 2006 we will be holding our annual fundraiser again. A BBQ Sausage sizzle, Raffle, entertainment and donation collection are planned.

The Raffle tickets will be $ 1 and the prize is a free camping weekend on Wollondilly River Station for 1 family.

We would appreciate your donations and ask all our members for their support during the event. Please contact the secretary Ina for more info and to confirm your participtions.

Thank you and hope to see you in October!

Our fund raising activities and Landcare displays at Caravan & Camping Shows :

Here the article in the Daily Liberal , 24 - June 2002 for the Dubbo Show by Steve Hodder:

" Bush Cook sets up Camp

Brian Casburn's bush cooking was such a big hit at last year's Orana Caravan and Camping Show that organisers insisted he come back .
The jovial Jack-of-all-trades was only too happy to oblige and bring his portable campfire and cookware with him this year .
Brian hails from the Southern Highlands where he and his wife Ina have a 6000 acre property on the Wollondilly River .
" Our place is halfway between Oberon and Bowral , " Brian explained .
" We're right on the river and have a fully catered Camping Ground available to visitors all year round ."
Brian loves the outdoor life and enjoys showing people the intricacies of camp oven cooking in an environmentally friendly way .
" I show people the correct way to prepare a fire for cooking and explain them the need for protecting the environment ," he said.
" A lot of people think that to cook in a camp oven you have to dig a hole for it , but that's not the case . Digging holes , especially on river banks , creates the opportunity for erosion , which can do a lot of harm to the environment . Most people these days are environmentally conscious and appreciate learning better ways to do things ."
Brian was a former member of the Wollondilly Catchment Committee , which oversees a large portion of the Warragamba catchment area , and is now Chairman of the Goodmans Ford Landcare Group .
" The Wollondilly River is one of the main sources of Sydney's water supply and visitors to our property soon learn if they pollute the area , they are polluting the city's drinking water ," Brian said .
" The bush has a lot to offer - it is one of the best places to relax and enjoy yourself , but you have to look after it and keep it clean ." "
